kdunlop@stanford.eduKatherine Dunlop received her AB from Harvard and her Ph.D. from UCLA, both in Philosophy. Her dissertation, completed in 2005, is entitled "Kant on the Reality of Mathematical Definitions". It uses Kant's view of mathematical definition to illuminate his view of intuition's role in geometry and arithmetic. Her current research considers Kant’s Critical philosophy more broadly, as well as its mathematical and scientific background. Katherine teaches courses on the historical background of Kant’s work and the reception of his ideas in 20th-century philosophy. In 2006-2007, she will teach one course on early British Empiricism (Bacon, Newton, Locke, and Berkeley) and one course on transcendental arguments in the philosophy of language.
